Uneven roads, stony tracks, potholes – tyres must withstand a lot. They are subject to much stress as the direct connection between the road and the car.

They must be changed occasionally to ensure that they continually roll safely. What are we talking about? It’s the tyre, i.e., the rubberized ring must be extracted from the rim and replaced timely.

Unlike replacing wheels, you should never try to fix tyres on rims (jointly, they form the “wheel”) alone. Only auto technicians can change run-flat and high-performance wide tyres.

Mounting Tyres | An Overview of Top Tyre Installation

A special tool and some expert services are necessary for changing tyres. Experts usually use a tyre changer to remove and replace worn-out tyres. It is fitted with a mounting arm and a bead breaker; with one, it is possible to change a tyre.

  1. Tyre Removal Procedure

The old tyre must be separated from the rim before we can put a new tire on the rim. The first step is completed manually, and the fixing apparatus is used afterward.

Remember that the auto technicians will first uplift the car to remove the wheel from the axis. Then, they will remove air from the tyre. This is done by unfastening the valve cap.

The garage employees will use the fixing apparatus afterward; the bead breaker can get the tire wall off the rim. Then, the mechanic positions the bead breaker on the wheel and the rim and pushes it down. The tyre is rotated once, and the procedure is repeated.

This demounting step guarantees that the tyre rim, i.e., the central ring of the tyre, is pressured entirely over the rim screw. The mechanic then clamps the internal ring in the mounting machine, shifts the weight balancers from the rim, and employs the mounting lever to place the tyre bead over the machine arm.

At this point, it only involves pushing a button. The installation device (tyre changer) is made to spin, and the tyre is mechanically carried off the rim.

  1. Tyre Mounting

Before the car mechanic can put on the tyres and mount them to the rim, they must ensure the tire size and age are right.

The mechanic first covers the tyre beads in and out with a paste or grease to make dragging on the tyre more manageable. The worker then connects the rim to the installation device and utilizes the mounting arm to set the lower tyre side on the rim’s upper border.

The mounting machine must rotate to pull the tire onto the rim. This simultaneously stresses the tyre beneath the rim hump to confirm that the tyre will be stiffly seated later on.

Eventually, the mechanic pumps air into the tire to the stipulated pressure and then bolts the valve.

Conclusion

As we all know, it is highly recommended that your car’s tyres be changed after ten years. However, if you observe that the tyre is impaired or worn out before this period, it must be replaced.

In any of the above-mentioned cases, make sure an expert mechanic handles the procedure, and you can find them at reliable tire shops.
